San Antonio Woman Arrested for Bruising Child with Belt, Bond Set at $5,000

A San Antonio woman was arrested after a 4-year-old boy was found with excessive bruising by a belt, a report says.

San Antonio Woman Allegedly Injured a Child

According to the arrest report, the excessive bruising was seen by the child’s relatives after he was picked up from a San Antonio Woman’s house.

The 4-year-old boy told his relatives that he was spanked which prompted them to call police officers, News4SA reported.

The relatives told the officers that they have observed “severe bruising on both butt cheeks and both upper thighs that were in the pattern of a belt in a downward diagonal pattern”.

San Antonio Woman Arrested by Authorities

The Bexar County Sheriff’s deputies identified the San Antonio woman as Melanie Beth Bernal, 32 years old.

During the investigation, the alleged suspect who was a San Antonio woman said that she just disciplined the child the day before because he acted up in school. She also said that she hit him with a belt because of acting up.

Later, the San Antonio woman declined to come into the sheriff’s office for an interview because she was out of town for an event.

The San Antonio woman was arrested Tuesday and was charged with injury to a child. Her bond was set at $5,000.
