Man Accused of Stabbing His Parents Shot After Charging At Deputy in Harris County

A man accused of stabbing both of his parents with a knife before running into a Southwest Houston neighborhood was shot by a deputy responding to the scene, according to Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office.

Law enforcement officers received a call for help around 10:30 a.m. from the 5600 block of Wigton. On arrival at the scene, the deputies found the man about a block away in the area of Cheena and Mullins, Click 2 Houston reported.

As per information released by Precinct 5, as an officer tried to make an arrest, the suspect lunged, and the deputy shot him in self-defense. The suspect was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The Houston Police Department took over the investigation and later announced that both the stabbing victims are safe and in stable condition. No deputies were hurt during the incident. 

Talking about the incident, the Houston Police Department in a Facebook post said: “A suspect involved in an aggravated assault has been taken to the hospital after an officer-involved shooting involving a Precinct 5 deputy this morning in Southwest Houston.”

“Deputies responded to an assault-in-progress call involving a knife-wielding suspect and his parents in the 5600 block of Wigton at approximately 10:30 Sunday morning. The suspect was located one block away in the 10300 block of Mullins. As the deputy attempted to arrest him, the suspect attacked, resulting in the deputy discharging his firearm in self-defense.”

“The suspect has been taken to a local hospital by ambulance. A woman was also taken to the hospital for treatment of an apparent stab wound. The Houston Police Department is on the scene and will be conducting a complete investigation,” it added.
