Suspect arrested after killing two brothers ‘who did everything together’

A man from Indio, California has been arrested for allegedly killing two brothers “who did everything together,” according to several reports.

Authorities nabbed Luis Armenta, 21, in connection with the murder of Abelardo Zuniga, 21, and Cesar “CJ” Zuniga, 18. On the morning of December 2, the brothers’ bodies were discovered in a burned-out car on an unpaved service road in the desert near Indio, California.

The accused killings’ motivation is yet unknown. According to Benjamin Guitron, a representative for the Indio Police Department, “Something developed between them that, unfortunately, cost them their lives.”

Call For Justice

Laura Zuniga, the devastated mother of the guys, told KESQ that she spotted their burned-out car after texting and phoning them all night.

Their aunt, Erica Ramirez, told reporters in Indio that the children were wonderful and that they were born and raised in the Coachella Valley. Cesar “liked to dance, sing, and play the guitar,” she recalled, and Abelardo “was constantly kidding about, laughing.”

“It will take the entire community, a village, to get the answers, therefore we need people with information to come forward,” Ramirez added.

Cesar, born on February 28, 2004, and Abelardo, born on July 7, 2001, took their final trip together and started their journey into paradise, according to Ramirez in a GoFundMe page set up for the two men.

‘Two Peas In One Pod’

She said, “Since tiny boys they did everything together,” describing the brothers as “two peas in a pod.”

According to several media sources, Armenta is accused of two charges of murder, arson, and other unique circumstances.

He is currently being held without bail after entering a not guilty plea to all of the charges. At this time, there was no information about his lawyer.
