A woman was shot in the chest during a driving rage incident over the weekend, Houston police said.
Officers from the Houston Police Department were sent to 3305 Emancipation Ave about a gunshot at around 11.15 p.m. Saturday. On arrival, they found a female victim with a gunshot wound to the chest.
According to police, the woman was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition and is expected to survive.
The incident
The woman told detectives she was traveling northbound on 288 between MacGregor and 59 South when she and a person from another vehicle got into an argument. The women navigated past the unknown driver, described only as a white guy, who “slammed on the brakes” of his white Mercedes, according to authorities.
The suspect fired one round into the woman’s vehicle, breaking her passenger window and striking her in the chest. The suspect then fled the scene.
The woman was able to drive herself to the Emancipation Avenue gas station and phone the police.
After the incident, people in Houston didn’t call it road rage, they said it was an “indiscriminate gunplay” by gangsters.
Anyone with information about the suspect has been asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
