Bryan Slaton, a state representative from Texas, has presented HB2889, which would grant eligible married couples 40% property tax credits. Controversial legislation based on the number of children is proposed regarding the prerequisites.
Slaton supports a biblical marriage, and this legislation encourages and pushes a strong family structure. According to the measure, a qualified married couple is a man and a woman who are legally married and have never divorced. This measure aims to provide eligible married couples with tax relief, according to the foxnews.com post.
A 40% property tax credit will be given to qualifying families with four qualifying children. Afterward, up to a maximum of 10 children, the tax breaks would rise by 10% for each additional qualified child. A household that is exempt from paying property taxes has ten or more children.

Not Everyone is Pleased
One of those who are unhappy with the bill is Ricardo Martinez, CEO of Equality Texas. According to him, there comes a moment where anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ prejudice turns into a kind of sick obsession.
HB2889 is not constitutionally acceptable at the state or federal levels, according to Dr. Eddie Carder, professor of constitutional law at Texas A&M.
Slaton stated that the proposal had been fashioned after legislation established in Hungary and Poland, which gave large families an almost tax-free existence.
Only Texas families and kids who the state’s Republican party deems to be morally acceptable will be supported under the bill. The initiative might gain traction now that Texas’ House and Senate are both controlled by Republicans, especially in light of the fact that Texas serves as a proving ground for pro-natalist GOP legislation.
The representative stated that having both parents living together improves a child’s chances of success.
