A man in Texas, who was imprisoned for years, was executed on Wednesday for killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend and 7-year-old son.

A man in Texas received a lethal injection on Wednesday for killing his ex-pregnant wife and 7-year-old son. Stephen Barbee, 55 years, got the death penalty at the state penitentiary in Huntsville. According to reports, he was pronounced dead at 7:35 p.m.
ABC 13 reports, the Texas man was condemned for the death of Lisa Underwood, 35 years old, and her son Jayden in February 2005. they were both suffocated at their home in Fort Worth. Police authorities said that both dead bodies were buried in a shallow grave in nearby Denton County.

Texas Man Filed Appeals
On Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a request by Barbee’s attorneys to stop the execution. Barbee’s lawyers have requested that the U.S. Supreme Court to postpone his execution, alleging that the state prison system had failed to establish a written protocol on the matter in response to the high court’s decision regarding what spiritual advisors can do while in the execution chamber.
According to the Supreme Court, states are required to respect the requests of death row convicts who want to have their religious leaders pray over them and touch them as they are put to death. Prison authorities in Texas did not publicly amend its policy, but they did say they would consider convicts’ applications on a case-by-case basis and would usually approve them.
