A family disturbance in a neighborhood escalated to a Fresno police officer shooting a suspect on Tuesday night.
Fresno Police Officer Shoots Armed Suspect
Shots were fired around 8 pm in the area of First Street and Brown Avenue. It is still unclear what led up to the initial shooting between family members. However, it resulted in one man being shot. As the police arrived, a Fresno police officer fired and hit the suspected gunman who was still armed.
According to ABC13, Radio traffic from Fresno police officers who responded to a disturbance and shots fired call Tuesday night gave insight into what officers encountered as they arrived. People could be heard yelling in the background, and the scene was pretty chaotic.
The responding officers were notified that someone had been shot. Upon arrival, officers told the alleged shooter to drop the weapon multiple times, but he didn’t.
“We had one Fresno police officer that shot at the armed suspect and we had three other witnessing officers,” Deputy Chief Salazar said. Officials say it does not appear the man fired his weapon toward the officers.
