Al Roker’s Daughter Announces Her Pregnancy on Instagram

Al Roker has shared how someone ruined the surprise by sending him a text, which is how he ‘accidentally’ learned out his daughter Courtney is expecting her first child.

The 68-year-old anchor of Today missed Tuesday’s morning program after his oldest daughter shared the news of her and her husband, Wesley Laga, becoming parents on Instagram.

The following day, Roker informed his co-stars of the good news and revealed that his first grandchild is due in July. While he avoided saying the infant was a girl, he did stumble and say “her” before correcting himself.

The Rokers’ first grandchild will be born this way. He said in jest that he already had a “grandfather name” to mark the beginning of the new chapter.

Later, during the show’s third hour, Roker continued the celebrations with a champagne toast alongside Melvin, Sheinelle Jones, and Dylan Dreyer. As the weatherman expressed his goals for becoming a grandfather, some Today onesies were given to the infant.

Al Roker has shared how someone ruined the surprise by sending him a text, which is how he ‘accidentally’ learned out his daughter Courtney is expecting her first child.

Roker and his ex-wife Alice Bell, whom he wed from 1984 to 1994, share a child named Courtney. Roker shares two children with his wife Deborah Roberts, son Nick, 20, and daughter Leila, 24, in addition to Courtney.

Shortly after Courtney announced it on Instagram, her proud father took to the post’s comments section and wrote, “This is it! I’m overjoyed beyond belief! You two.” He followed up by saying, “Going for Pop-Pop.”

This is so very exciting!!! was the sweet statement that his 62-year-old wife also made. On June 4, 2021, Courtney and Laga exchanged vows at The Ashford Estate in New Jersey.

Courtney’s younger sister Leila served as her maid of honor, and many of Roker’s Today coworkers, including Kotb, Dylan Dreyer, Craig Melvin, and Sheinelle Jones, were in attendance. In April 2020, the couple got engaged, and Roker wrote a special Instagram post for them.
