Fabuloso multipurpose cleanser, which Colgate-Palmolive has recalled 4.9 million of, may expose users to microorganisms

Colgate-Palmolive, a major manufacturer of home products, is recalling over 4.9 million Fabuloso multipurpose cleaning products because they might expose users to dangerous microorganisms.

Pseudomonas-species bacteria

Pseudomonas-species bacteria, which are common environmental organisms in soil and water, may be present in the recalled items, according to a warning posted on the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website on Wednesday.

A preservative was not put at the proper quantities during manufacture, according to a notification on the Fabuloso website.

The warning states that there is a danger of bacterial development in the recalled items due to insufficient preservative.

Production Problem

Between December 14, 2022, and January 23, 2023, when the production problem was fixed, the impacted items were produced, according to Fabuloso. It claims that 3.9 million of these bottles, or nearly 80%, were never made available for purchase by the general public.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, those who are exposed to the germs and have compromised immune systems, external medical equipment, or underlying lung problems run the risk of developing severe infections that may require medical attention.

The article stated that germs can enter the body through the eyes or a skin breach. Also possible is inhalation.

According to the commission, those with strong immune systems are often unaffected by the germs.

Other Reports, Bacteria

According to a statement from the USCPSC, the contaminated cleansers may include germs including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Pseudomonas fluorescens, which can damage those with compromised immune systems if consumed.

It, however, said these bacterial strains normally have little effect on healthy or immune-suppressed individuals. According to the multinational manufacturer of consumer goods, both kinds of bacteria are indeed often found in soil and water.

As of February 9, 2023, no injuries have been recorded. Customers who own the recalled product at home can contact the firm via the recall form on fabulosorecall.com to receive a full refund or a replacement.
