Enoch City Police Officers immediately responded to the 4900 block of Albert Drive on Wednesday, January 4 after receiving a report of an alleged murder-suicide. The police officers found 8 lifeless bodies inside the home where they were reportedly shot to death. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
The authorities released the deceased victim’s information as 42-year-old Michael Haight; 40-year-old Tausha Haight, his wife; 78-year-old Gail Earl, Tausha Haight’s mother; and the couple’s children, three daughters ages 17, 12, and 7, and two sons, 4 and 7 years old.
The concerned family and friends of the victims reportedly called the police. During the initial investigation, the police officers believed that there are no other suspects involved in the case. The result suggests that 42-year-old Michael Haight killed his family members inside their home and took his life after. The suspect’s wife had filed for divorce two weeks before the alleged murder-suicide occurred.
City Manager Rob Dotson said at a press conference Thursday, that Tasha Haight did not arrive at her appointment on Wednesday. She was supposed to meet an individual but couldn’t contact her. The person then decided to contact police officers. It was not determined how long the family was dead inside their home and when the shooting happened.The small southern Utah community was shocked and horrified after learning about the horrific deaths of the family.
