8-Year-Old Boy Was Found Dead
A 32-year-old man was accused last month after his girlfriend’s 8-year-old kid was discovered dead in a locked room. According to court documents, Matthew Joseph Dirig’s complaint was filed in Huntington County on December 5 for neglect of a dependent resulting in death.
On November 22, Huntington Police officers responded to a residence after a lady called to tell that her kid had died and was wearing a zip tie around his neck. The coroner found the 8-year-old died from asphyxia, but the method of death was not yet determined, according to a report published in TRUE CRIME DAILY.
8-Year-Old Boy Has A Mental Health Issue
Dirig reportedly picked up the youngster from the Boys & Girls Club on Nov. 22 because he was having a horrible day, and Dirig allegedly put the boy in his room because it was his safe area, with the door shut from the outside for protection. According to the boy’s mother, Dirig came up with the idea to shift the lock to the outside of the door.
According to Dirig and the boy’s mother, the victim had mental health and behavioral concerns. The mother said that her son had previously tried suicide, although he was recently in counseling.
Meanwhile, reports revealed that the mother returned home and went to check on her kid. When she opened the door, he was dead silent. When police arrived, they reportedly found zip ties throughout the residence, including a broken one in the garbage can. Investigators also allegedly spotted scratch marks on Dirig’s jacket and medical gloves in the jacket’s pocket.
