An American activist will reportedly lead Haitian migrants to the United States border this October. The activist also allegedly released a statement that they are ready for war.
Activist To Lead Haitian Migrants
Weeks ago, the Biden administration decided to deport the Haitian migrants who camped at the border of Del Rio, Texas. Most had no papers and only hoped to be allowed to enter the country.
A report by American Military News said that a new group of Haitians would march to the U.S. border from Southern Mexico in late October. The news website added that the person leading them is a U.S. citizen activist named Irineo Mujica. Mujica works with Pueblo Sin Fronteras’s nonprofit organization, and he is expected to lead the Haitian migrants by October 25.
American Military News quoted Border Report regarding the translated statement of Mujica, saying, “We are leaving in 20 days. We prefer to march with (travel) papers. And this time, which papers or without papers, we are ready for war. If the National Guard comes and they are cowardly enough to beat women and children, let them prepare because God’s hand is with us.”
Panamanian Official’s Warning, Migrants Block Main Streets
American Military News said that a Panamanian official told Border Report that around 60,000 Haitians are expected to make their way to the U.S. border. Further, a Mexican news outlet said on social media that Haitian migrants demonstrated and blocked the main streets of Tapachula as they aimed to leave the city.
Mujica, Advocates Go To Mexican Federal Courts
Per American Military News, the news website said that Mujica and other advocates also went to Mexican federal courts in the state of Chiapas last week. They aimed to force the National Migration Institute and the National Refugee Commission to recognize around 12,000 Haitian migrants seeking asylum in the area.
The courts did not grant the asylum but agreed to protect the Haitian migrants. American Military News said that Mujica noted they are seeking writs of Amparo because Mexican officials have no intention of letting the Haitians leave unless it is for going back to Haiti. With the writs of Amparo, Mujica said Mexican immigration officials would not be able to detain the Haitian migrants.
