The Triple Homicide case in Garland, Texas has come to a close with the conviction of Richard Acosta, the father of the shooter, Abel Acosta. The shooting occurred at a convenience store and claimed the lives of Xavier Gonzalez, Rafael Garcia, and Ivan Noyala, all teenagers. Despite the conviction of Richard Acosta, the shooter, Abel, remains on the run according to Garland Police Department.
Richard Acosta was found guilty of capital murder by a jury after three hours of deliberation. He now faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. On the night of the shooting, Richard drove Abel to and from the convenience store but did not participate in the shooting. Instead, he waited outside in a truck while Abel entered the store and opened fire according to Fox 4 Dallas.

Despite his testimony that he did not know his son was armed or that he had shot anyone, the jury saw through Richard’s claims and held him responsible for the actions of his son. The police department released a statement after the conviction stating that they were “only halfway to justice” and that the search for Abel Acosta would continue.
