Los Angeles Man Given Life for Rape and Murder of Teen Girl, Young Woman

A Los Angeles man received a life sentence after the rape and murder of a teen girl and a young woman in a downtown courtroom in L.A. last Monday.

The convict, 38-year-old Giovanni Borjas, committed the abduction, rape, and slaying more than ten years past, reported KTLA.

While the judge spoke of Borja’s sentencing to life in bars with no parole at any time, he had no remorse or emotion expressed.

But the verdict leveled against the convicted killer would be closure for the families of the deceased.

The mother of one of the two female victims spoke up after the sentence. Darlene Duran, the mother of Bree’Anna Guzman, told KTLA Chris Wolfe; that it’s a chapter about to close and grieving can start after doing the mission to identify her daughter’s killer.

Other details

Bree’Anna Guzman was 22 and had two girls when she only went out to get cough drops in December 2011. She never appeared again and or went home to her daughters. Later her corpse was seen in Silverlake close to an on-ramp going to the 2 Freeway.

That was not the end of it; later, the Guzman murder would be connected to the case of 17-year-old Michelle Lozano. Also killed by Borjas, who had wrapped the corpse in plastic bags fitting it in a container close to 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights.

She disappeared in April 2011 and was found strangled to death by the killer.

Killer admitted to the dual slayings

Borjas did not contest the evidence that he did the murders. The police had DNA samples that matched the man to murder, rape, and abduction. Rachel Duran, the sis of Guzman called him a monster who in the trial, is remorseless.

The prosecutors wanted the death penalty but it was ignored by L.A. County District Attorney George Gascón. Darlene Duran said it would be better for the Los Angeles man convicted of rape and murder, a teen girl and young woman.
