After 13 years, Brittanee Drexel disappeared when she went on a spring break trip in Myrtle Beach, S.C., the sex offender who kidnapped and killed her was found to be guilty for the crimes he did and was sentenced to life in prison.
The name of the kidnapper is Raymond Moody, age 62, who himself confessed the crime by saying, “I was a monster then, and I was a monster when I took Brittanee Drexel’s life. I don’t have the words to express how horrible I feel … I’m very sorry.”
According to the reports, Moody was sentenced to a term of 30 years on the charges of kidnapping and criminal sexual conduct. He was also convicted of the first-degree murder charge for kidnapping, raping, and strangling a 17-year-old high school soccer star, and for this, he has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
Brittanee Drexel was a 17-year-old high school soccer star who always dreamt of becoming a nurse or cosmetologist. Drexel’s stepfather, Chad Drexel, was with her mother, Dawn Pleckan, who had searched everywhere for the teen with lots of efforts before Moody was sentenced and said he’d always held out hope that she would be one day found.
A Spring Break Nightmare
Drexel’s parents wondered what had happened to the junior at Gates Chili High School in Chili, N.Y., for more than a decade.
Drexel went on the break on April 22, 2009, and left her hotel on April 25, 2009, and then moved towards the Blue Water Resort on Ocean Boulevard, which is a busy path in Myrtle Beach. She visited there in order to meet a friend who lives there.
She was last seen in the surveillance cameras at around 8:45 p.m. while leaving the hotel. She was wearing a black and white tank top, flip flops, and shorts, as Informed by the authorities.
She informed her boyfriend on chat while walking back to the Bar Harbor, where she was staying with her friend.
