According to a new Republican law, convicted felons who are found entering Texas illegally could receive a sentence of up to life in prison.
After a group of about 1,000 migrants was observed approaching the Paso Del Norte bridge in El Paso on Sunday, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick spoke on America’s Newsroom to address the state’s efforts to bolster its border security.
If approved, SB 2424 would declare unlawful entry into Texas a new state crime and provide law enforcement agencies the power to arrest and prosecute all those who cross the border illegally wherever in Texas, according to a statement from Patrick.
A large number of migrants, largely from Venezuela, were deterred from storming a US entry point that connects Mexico and the US, prompting the warning.
Patrick stated that he is not shocked that Texas responded swiftly to the crossings, but added that the perilous event illustrates what can occur if President Joe Biden continues to keep this border wide up and allow people to come to America.
Patrick claimed that disasters are occurring all over America under President Biden, forcing his state to act. Texas Republican Representative Chip Roy is drafting legislation that would label Mexican drug cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO) in reaction to the continuous facilitation of migratory and lethal narcotics trafficking in the US by those organizations.

The Gulf Cartel, the Cartel Del Noreste, the Cartel of Sinaloa, and the Cartel of Jalisco Nueva Generacion would all need to be designated as foreign terrorist organizations under the Drug Cartel Terrorist Designation Act.
Also, the State Department would have to publish a report on those cartels and any others that fit the bill’s standards for such a classification.
Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued a warning on Monday, saying that the roughly 1,000 migrants who attempted to storm the border with El Paso, Texas, are just a preview of what Biden’s failed policies may bring.
The majority of the migrants, who were Venezuelans, believed they would be admitted because of a hoax about the day of the migrant celebration.
The Biden administration is reportedly considering permitting migrant families to be imprisoned together in detention facilities after crossing the southern border, and Patrick was asked for his opinion on the matter.
