Mike Pence supported Donald Trump’s demands for his followers to demonstrate against a potential impending indictment, saying the public won’t tolerate another catastrophe as of January 6.
The former vice president is one of the more outspoken perspective 2024 contenders, speaking out against the possibility that Trump might be charged this week in relation to payments made to porn actress Stormy Daniels as hush money during the 2016 campaign.
Over the weekend, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg distributed a note informing workers that security measures are being taken in response to threats made against the office.
Pence referred to the entire case against Trump as a politically motivated prosecution and said throughout the interview that he is thinking about running for president in 2024. Pence did appear more eager than in the past to support a Trump inquiry.
Karl questioned Pence on whether he would think about discussing matters unrelated to his duties as Senate president with special prosecutor Jack Smith, a defense he has promised to use in court to try to avoid testifying before the special prosecutor.

Trump’s 2020 Election Overthrow
Smith is looking into how Trump handled confidential materials after leaving office and his attempts to rig the 2020 election. Pence acknowledged his constrained defense but would not say if he would face Smith in other cases.
On January 6, 2021, those who demanded for the then-VP to be hanged appeared to be excused by the former president, according to Karl, who simulated a conversation with Trump for Pence. Pence responded, “There was no justification for the violence that occurred at the Capitol on January 6th, and I’ll never minimize it as long as I live.”
The president was mistaken that day, he added, and ” I had honestly hoped that he would change his mind by the time you read this, Jon and that he would see that the group of legal advisers he surrounded himself with had misled him.”
Yet he hasn’t, and in his words, “I believe that’s one of the reasons why the country really wants a fresh start,” he implied that the GOP needs new leadership as the 2024 presidential primary race heats up.
