Fiery Crash in New York Leads to Death of 5 Connecticut Children

In the early hours of Sunday in the New York metropolitan region, five children died and one was injured when their automobile went off the road and into a tree. The victims’ ages varied from 8 to 17, according to a press release from the Westchester County Police Department. 

There were also four boys and a girl who were all from Connecticut who died. According to the press announcement, the Nissan Rogue looked to be being driven by a 16-year-old boy. Around 12:20 in the morning, near Scarsdale, New York—25 miles northeast of New York City—the SUV struck a tree and started the fire. Sunday. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

As per Westchester County officials, the only survivor was a 9-year-old child who allegedly was in the hatchback section of the automobile and managed to escape from the back of the vehicle.

The Westchester County authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident, according to the news release, and police were working Sunday to get in touch with the families of the children who died. According to Westchester County Police, the driver of the Nissan Rogue was most likely a 16-year-old teenager.

Who also confirmed that family members had been informed, five youngsters, four of whom were male and one female, and were all born in Connecticut. The authorities are currently looking into the crash. According to a spokeswoman, the vehicle’s starting point and final destination are still unknown.

The victims’ names being released to the public on Sunday was not something the police had anticipated. Around 50 miles north of Scarsdale in Connecticut, a school administrator said he believed the children belonged to a family that had recently relocated from New York to the New Haven County area but hadn’t enrolled in the district.

The father allegedly spoke with Matt Conway, the superintendent in Derby, Connecticut, on Sunday and offered to provide him with information on the neighborhood services that could assist him and his family. He planned to have another conversation with the father on Monday.
