Elizabeth Warren Reacts to Trump’s Call for Protest Over Indictment

Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts appeared to echo Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s similar statement after former President Donald Trump predicted that he would likely be imprisoned this week for alleged hush money payments.

On Sunday, Warren appeared on ABC’s This Week, where she spoke with host Jonathan Karl. She said she has always been concerned about the potential for violence during protests, but that Trump supporters have no cause to object to his possible arrest this week due to a lengthy investigation into his alleged payments of hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels.

According to reports from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office, Trump declared on Saturday on Truth Social that he would be arrested on Tuesday. At the close of Trump’s successful 2016 presidential campaign, his prior lawyer, Michael Cohen, gave Daniels $130,000 to keep her from publicizing her 2006 encounter with Trump. Trump then compensated Cohen.

For misrepresenting payments as legal costs in his company’s internal records, Trump may be charged by the authorities. In a statement, Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung termed the prospective indictment this week a witch hunt.

Is Donald Trump Innocent?

“President Donald J. Trump is absolutely innocent; he did nothing wrong,” Cheung stated.

In a similar statement to Warren’s, Taylor Greene urged Trump supporters not to demonstrate over the issue, saying that “these fools are sealing their own destiny” in 2024 because of the possible arrest. Trump is not above the law, according to Warren, who also asserted that the judicial system is working as it should.

“No one is above the law, not even the former President of the United States. That’s how our legal system works.”
