Donald Trump Won’t Drop Presidential Candidacy if Indicted

According to the constitution, Donald Trump, the former president, is still able to run for president in the 2024 election, even if he is prosecuted. Criminal charges are not one of the three prerequisites for running for president.

Natural-born citizenship, residency, and age all qualify one to run for president, even in the event of a conviction in the Mar-a-Lago documents investigation. Donald Trump stated over the weekend that even if he is indicted, he will not withdraw from the 2024 presidential election, according to the msnbc.com post.

The Eugene Debs case is an excellent illustration of a historical precedent for a more severe crime situation than an indictment. He was not only accused but also found guilty and imprisoned in Georgia when he unsuccessfully sought the presidency in 1920.

Unprecedented problems could undoubtedly develop if and when Trump is prosecuted and tries to retake control of the administration he attempted to topple by alleging that the 2020 election was rigged. Additionally, there are concerns about whether Trump is eligible to hold office under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment given his conduct leading up to and during the Jan. 6, 2021, uprising.

The 2024 presidential election, which Trump refers to as the “final battle.” will take place as his third presidential campaign picks up steam. He went to the four-day annual Conservative Political Action Conference. He pitched himself as the ideal leader to take on Democrats and “establishment” Republicans as the conference came to a close.

In an effort to set himself apart from the “save” Republicans, Trump positioned himself as the leader who would “establishment” America. The Republican Party’s desire to raise the Social Security retirement age was then criticized by Trump.

He discussed his recently announced challenge to create new “freedom cities” in addition to his typical issues, such as border security.
