Three children died and two adults sustained serious injuries early Saturday morning in a house fire in west Baltimore, according to the city’s fire department.
The Baltimore Fire Department tweeted at about 4:30 am on Saturday that three children and two adults in serious condition were first rescued from a residence in the 3000 block of Brighton Street.
About an hour later, the fire brigade reported that the three injured youngsters had perished. According to the fire brigade, both the causes of the children’s deaths and the origin of the fire are under investigation.
Mayor Vows Thorough Investigation Into the Incident
Now, Mayor Brandon Scott has promised that a “thorough investigation” would be conducted to discover the cause of the incident and prevent it from occurring in the future.
Initial reports indicated that the two adults were in critical condition. Their terms were modified later that day. As of the late afternoon, the lady remained in serious condition at the hospital, while the guy had been discharged, according to Assistant Chief Roman Clark of the Baltimore City Fire Department.
Clark stated that the guy was not inside the home as firefighters were battling the blaze. Scott stated that the city will work closely with the family, their friends, and community members to give them the necessary services at this trying time.
Following the fire, the front yard of the row house was filled with rubble. Toys for children were a part of the heap. Mary Bailey operates a neighboring childcare from her house. She reported hearing the cries early on Saturday morning.
Bailey recalls seeing the youngsters outside the row home playing. She is currently plagued by these recollections. A family member said on social media, “Lord, only you can provide the strength and consolation our family requires at this time.”
The relative stated that she was “requesting that everyone pray, pray, pray for my family.”
Saturday evening, when the family came, WJZ was there at the residence. At their time of mourning, they declined to remark and requested privacy. This is Baltimore’s second tragic fire this week.
Thursday morning in Northeast Baltimore, according to the Baltimore City Fire Department, a lady was discovered dead on the second story of a burning house.
