New Jersey homeowners have three days left to apply for a state program that will grant them up to $1,500. Applications for the Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters initiative are being accepted by residents of the state through February 28.
Payments under this program will start in the late spring, and benefits will be dispersed via check or direct deposit, according to the Division of Taxation in New Jersey.
If a homeowner’s annual income is between $150,001 and $250,000, they will get $1,000 from the ANCHOR program instead of $1,500. Individuals can apply for this program online or over the phone by calling 877-658-2972, but they will need an ANCHOR ID and PIN to do so.

Who Can Apply For New Jersey Stimulus Checks?
Renters can still apply and get a $450 payment as long as they make $150,000 or less yearly. However, they won’t get nearly as much as homeowners who qualify for this payment. The Division of Taxation warns against using this program because renters cannot apply for it over the phone and are not given an ID or PIN.
Anyone interested in this program may also print an application and mail it in together with the necessary supporting documentation. Applicants under this program who own or rent property in the state will get their payments no later than May.
The order in which payments are paid to recipients will not matter. On the Division of Taxes website, you may find more details about this program. The previous Homestead Benefit program has been replaced with the ANCHOR program. Mailers were sent by the State in September 2022, according to the State of New Jersey.
As opposed to earlier years, the State will now pay ANCHOR payments in the form of a check or direct deposit rather than as a tax credit. Both homeowners and tenants may submit their applications online. Applications on paper can also be downloaded. Through the ANCHOR website, you may also determine the status of your application.
For information about the ANCHOR program, call 1-888-238-1233 between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. On Saturday, February 25, starting at 9:00 am, the ANCHOR Hotline will have extended calling hours until 3:30 pm.
