A man in Thornton has been charged with a hit-and-run case where he had brutally injured a woman and left her to fend for herself.
Skimpy And Callous
The victim was with a group of other people when they got out of a rideshare on Interstate 25 in Thornton early on New Year’s Day. A man accused of fatally hitting a Texan woman who was in Colorado visiting over the New Year holiday was charged on January 2023 in connection with the crash on Interstate 25.
Prosecutors in the court of law announced on the 17th of January that Adam Wooley merely 33 years old is accused and charged with one count of leaving the scene of an accident related to the 1st of January on the highway.
The victim who was a 22-year-old woman from Texas was mercilessly hit by 2 vehicles on northbound I-25 north of 144th Avenue around 12:30 a.m. that morning, according to police reports in Thornton. The driver who was driving the second vehicle remained at the scene but the first one drove as fast off as he plausibly could.
There was CCTV footage received from the scene of the crime. It thankfully covers every detail and has been a crucial help for the police. Wooley was in a truck and he had sideswiped the victim as she was simply walking onto the roadway. After the incident took place, he didn’t stop to check up on her or to assist her. The second driver on his way struck her as she was lying on the road.
Empathy Or Lack Thereof
The arrest affidavit clearly speaks of the fact that the woman and two of her friends were in a rideshare and were heading back to a weekend home rental back in Frederick. All three of them had been drinking and while they were on the I-25, the woman who was hit became instantly sick and puked into the front passenger seat.
Things started to go downhill after that. The driver, on seeing this, immediately pulled over the car which made the woman pretty upset. She got out of the cab and her friends, after paying the driver, went after her. They were walking east towards an open field then took a north which was parallel to the highway.
However, the victim suddenly moved to the west and started walking onto the highway. This was the moment she was struck by Wooley’s truck and fell down almost immediately. All of her friends were trying to slow down the traffic on the highway so she won’t be hit again but they were massively unsuccessful, as reported.
The investigators working on this case found items at the scene which led them to believe that the first vehicle that had hit the woman was a Dodge Ram pickup truck. After this information was made public, Wooley contacted the police. He’s due in court on the 28th of February for a preliminary hearing.
