Chelsean Residents: $200-$400 Direct Payments Finally Ends Their Online Application Last Friday

According to household size and income, the Chelsea Eats program provides 700 low-income residents of Chelsea, Massachusetts with monthly grants ranging from $200 to $400.

To be eligible for the universal basic income program, the household income must be 30% below the local median. That amounts to $29,450 for a single household while reaching $52,150 for families of seven or more according to an article posted by The Sun on January 05, 2023.

A lottery will be used to choose qualified candidates, but some groups will be given preference.

According to a statement from Chelsea officials, these include applicants with children  under the age of 18, disabled residents, seniors 65 years old and older, families  with a female identifying head of household, and families with a member self-identifying with a marginalized gender identity.

The online application officially ends at Friday, January 06.

According to Tom Ambrosino, manager of Chelsea City, qualified applicants expected their first prepaid debit card along with the payment on the last week of the month.
