Woman Faces Charges for Ignoring Pregnant Sister Gets Beaten to Death

A sibling was accused of ignoring a woman pleading for help after being beaten to death in their home in Marietta, South Carolina earlier this month, according to the State report.

Details of Incident

On November 9, Clarrissa Winchester, 22, was discovered dead at the Saw Mill Road residence after being beaten in the head and neck. Winchester’s child was eventually born.

Tyler Wilkins, Winchester’s boyfriend and the child’s father, has been accused of murdering her and failing to seek medical attention for the child.

Although Winchester’s father, Mike Winchester, told the State that she was repeatedly hit, authorities have not revealed what was used to beat her.

He said he was not informed of the baby’s status, including whether it was stillborn or died from neglect. When the mother was killed, she was seven months pregnant.

Michael Thomas Burnett, 43, and Melissa Michelle Burnett, 49, who was detained on Saturday, were brother and sister reportedly present when the incident occurred.

The Burnetts are Wilkins’ aunt and uncle, according to Lt. Ryan Flood, a Greenville County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.

They face criminal charges for failing to report a crime.

Bond allowed for their release.

Charges

A SLED background check revealed that Wilkins, who was charged with high and severe domestic violence, two counts of attempted murder, brandishing a pistol, resisting arrest, hurling bodily fluids, and endangering the life of a public officer, was out on bail at the time Winchester was killed.

He was imprisoned for nearly six weeks.

They phoned the deputies when Wilkins wouldn’t let them inside the Saw Mill Road residence to check for their daughter, according to Mike Winchester and his wife Melinda. When deputies arrived, Clarrissa Winchester and the infant were already dead.

Other Investigation

Additionally, Wilkins is being looked into the 19-year-old disappearance of his ex-girlfriend Jorden Nebling. On October 10, 2020, Wilkins picked her up when the car she had borrowed from a friend broke down. Her family’s failure to declare her missing for a month made the inquiry more difficult.

Wilkins, 21, is detained at the Greenville County Detention Facility without posting a bond.

On November 16, Winchester and her child Grayson were laid to rest in the cemetery of Travelers Rest’s Golden Grove Baptist Church.
