Alan Morgan, a 29-year-old Indiana father, was convicted on Nov. 29 of killing his 4-year-old son due to potty training issues. He repeatedly beat and tortured his son, which led to the young boy’s death in 2021.
“Life Without Parole”
Morgan pleaded guilty in September to first-degree murder and battery on a child in the death of his son, Judah Morgan. He was sentenced to 70 years in prison on Tuesday. Judah died due to blunt force trauma to the head and a brain bleed, according to the autopsy.
Morgan is referred to as “Deft” by the judge because he cares for and controls the victim despite his only four years old. Prosecutors dropped additional charges against Morgan, including neglect of a dependent and animal cruelty, a source posted. Alan Morgan admitted to killing his biological son, and the prosecutor agreed to drop “Life Without Parole” as a possible sentence.
Murder of Innocent Child
On October 20, 2021, the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an unconscious child; when they arrived at the scene at 2:15 a.m., no one was home, and Judah was dead. Detectives discovered duct tape and a potty-training toilet in Morgan’s basement.
Judah’s mother, Mary Yoder, told detectives that Alan Morgan abused their son because he was not potty trained. According to surveillance footage, Yoder is seen kicking Judah and locking him in the basement.
A video also shows Alan punching Judah at least 13 times on Oct. 7, and the physical abuse continued the next day when he punched the poor boy at least 15 times, according to an AP News report.
Dr. John Feczko, a forensic pathologist, testified that an autopsy revealed the boy weighed only 36 pounds. An X-ray revealed a partially healed collarbone fracture, and the boy had brain bleeding and trauma to his abdomen and back.
