In a bizarre incident, Local Fox 26 reporter Ivory Hecker startled her colleagues and viewers Monday evening. She claimed live on-air that Fox’s corporate bosses had been “muzzling” her to prevent her from releasing “critical information” her viewers deserved to hear.
Hecker then claimed that she had secret recordings to support her censorship claims which she’d turned over to a far-right anti-news group.
The Fox 26 studio anchor cut to Hecker towards the top of the station’s 5 p.m. news show for a live hit about the steamy Texas weather, which has state power system operators worried about probable power disruptions.
“Before we get to that topic, I want to let you know that Fox Corp. has been muzzling me in order to withhold some facts from you, the viewers. And, as far as I can tell, I am not the only reporter who has been exposed to this,” Hecker stated.
Instead of cutting away from Hecker, who had plainly gone rogue, the camera continued to roll.
Here’s what Hecker had to say
“I am going to release some tapes of what goes on behind the scenes at Fox because it is relevant to you, the viewers,” she said, adding: “I identified a non-profit journalistic organization called Project Veritas that will help put that out tomorrow, so keep an eye on them.”
Hecker then casually shifted to talking about the local heatwave.
Project Veritas, a far-right organization founded and run by conservative charlatan James O’Keefe, is dedicated to undermining American mainstream media sources which they believe are part of a large liberal conspiracy to mislead the public.
Project Veritas has also targeted Democratic politicians and advocacy groups such as Planned Parenthood with fraudulently manipulated video footage and shady undercover stings operation. During these so-called sting operations, the group tries to convince outlets to report on fake news items in order to ruin their credibility.
