A teen who reportedly confessed to killing her sister by stabbing her multiple times Wednesday at their Katy-area home in Texas told authorities that he was “asleep” when he committed the crime.
Benjamin Elliot, 17, told police that around 2.30 and 3 a.m., he woke up in the bedroom of his twin sister, Meghan Elliot, and saw a knife stabbed in her neck. After realizing he was awake and not dreaming, he claimed that he removed the knife, turned on the light, and put pressure on his sister’s wound with a pillow, KHOU.com reported.
The teen told authorities said that he ran to his bedroom to get his phone and called 911.
Dispatchers Instructed Benjamin Elliot To Perform CPR on Twin Sister
Upon calling 911, dispatchers then instructed Elliot to perform CPR on Meghan, who was stabbed twice in the neck. Seven minutes into the 911 call, court records revealed that he called his parents, who were heard yelling and crying in the background at their home in the 4100 block of Brown Meadow Court.
Benjamin also reportedly said that he was not suffering from any sleep irregularities and did not take any drugs or alcohol before going to bed.
Benjamin Elliot Charged With First Degree Murder
Elliot was charged with first-degree murder after the stabbing incident and was given a $100,000 bond. He was not present during the first court appearance but was rather screened by the mental health unit.
If Elliot takes the bond, he will be placed under a bond supervision order which will require him to wear a GPS monitoring track. He will also be under curfew and needs to surrender his passport.
The attorney of the Elliot Family released a statement saying: “We are still gathering all of the facts and details of this tragedy. There is no question Benjamin loved his sister very much. They were extremely close and the best of friends. The family is asking for privacy as they process this heartbreaking event.”
