George Michael had unwavering faith in his relationships. Let’s take a retrospective glance at the dating history of George Michael.
Brooke Shields
The Wham! vocalist, George Michael, had a brief relationship with actress Brooke Shields during the 1980s, introduced by the actress’s mother, Teri Shields. In her memoir, the actress recounted their few dates. There was one memorable evening in a limousine, following a party for Grace Jones, when Shields believed she was on the verge of losing her virginity to the “Father Figure” singer. However, instead of proceeding, Michael purportedly looked into her eyes and stated, “I think we need to take a break. I need to focus on my career.”
Anselmo Feleppa
George Michael regarded Brazilian designer Anselmo Feleppa as his “first profound love.” Michael acknowledged that Feleppa helped him embrace his sexuality as a gay man, explaining how he broke through his Victorian-era inhibitions and showed him how to fully experience, relax, and enjoy life.
However, a few months into their relationship, Feleppa received a positive HIV diagnosis. In George Michael’s final project before his passing, a documentary released in 2017 titled “George Michael: Freedom,” the singer referred to the day as “the darkest and most frightening period in my life.”
Kenny Goss
George Michael crossed paths with Kenny Goss, a Texas-born businessman and former flight attendant, in May 1996 in Los Angeles. The renowned “Last Christmas” singer publicly came out as gay in 1998, making a statement to CNN where he expressed, “I want to state that I have no qualms about people knowing that I am currently in a relationship with a man. I feel no shame about it.”
After the announcement of the Civil Partnerships Bill in Britain in 2005, which allowed same-sex couples to enter into civil partnerships, Michael conveyed to the Associated Press that he and Goss intended to enter into a legal partnership but without the elaborate wedding traditions.
However, Michael and Goss ultimately never tied the knot and separated in 2009. Goss later revealed to The Sun that Michael continued to send him texts post-breakup, expressing a desire to still be together, “like in the beginning.” During a 2017 interview with The Dallas Morning News, Goss referred to Michael as “truly the love of my life,” and he believed he was also the love of Michael’s life. He explained that their breakup was amicable, with no hard feelings.
Fadi Fawaz
At the time of his passing, George Michael was in a romantic relationship with the well-known hairstylist, Fadi Fawaz.
Tragically, Fawaz was the one who discovered Michael’s lifeless body at his countryside residence in Goring-On-Thames on Christmas Day in 2016. In the days following this heartbreaking event, Fawaz posted a series of tributes to his beloved boyfriend on Twitter.
