A woman was held captive, beaten, and sexually assaulted for five days repeatedly by a man she met on a dating app, Texas police say.
Texas police arrested a 21-year-old man named Zachary Kent Mills, for allegedly kidnapping a woman whom he met on a dating app called Bumble. Mills reportedly held her captive for approximately five days, repeatedly sexually assaulting and brutalizing her.
Police officers with the Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 4 responded to Houston Methodist Spring Emergency Care Center after receiving an emergency call on December 29 regarding a woman who was a victim of an alleged assault. The court documents identified the victim as “J.W.”. She told investigators that she met a man on Bumble and they “started a romantic relationship” though it was not clear when they first met each other in person. The man was later identified as Zachary Kent Mills.
J.W. told authorities that they agreed to meet at Mill’s apartment in the 8000 block of Augusta Pines on Christmas eve and that, Mill attempted to start to have sexual intercourse with her immediately upon entering his apartment.
When she denied the defendant’s sexual advances, he began to physically assault her and would not let her leave the residence,” the affidavit states. [J.W.] said when he assaulted her, he would bite her on the neck and face and strike her using a closed fist. She stated that when the defendant’s hands got tired from hitting her, he would grab a screwdriver and strike her with the handle causing serious body injury.
The victim alleged that she made several attempts to escape but Mills allegedly caught and assaulted her again. She claimed that Mills did not give her any food or water throughout the duration and that she was held against her will. J.W. told detectives that she was finally able to escape when Mills left to go to his father’s house. She ran out of the door and asked for help from the first people who she came in contact with and told them what happened.
In her affidavit, she positively identifies Mills as her alleged attacker based on his driver’s license photograph. She was brought to the emergency care center and underwent a medical examination where medical personnel said she sustained “bite marks, severe bruising to both eyes, cuts to both her throat and nose, and severe bruising to the majority of her body.”
Zachary Kent Mills was taken into custody and charged with one count of aggravated kidnapping, court documents reviewed by Law&Crime show. He was released after posting a $50,000 bond.
