Trang Vu, 52, who changed his name to Itani Milleni, is found guilty of murder and sentenced to 55 years in prison for killing his wife. To get away from the crime he committed, he staged the murder as a robbery, but he failed.
Concealing the Truth
Trang Vu murdered his wife in 2015; she was found beaten to death at her beauty school and salon in Houston’s Chinatown, but no murder weapon was ever discovered at the crime scene.
The detectives doubted that the suspect’s motive was robbery because her credit cards and cash were not stolen.
He changed his name three months after his wife died and relinquished parental rights to the couple’s children. He attempted to obtain money from Tran’s life insurance policy four years later, prompting investigators to reopen the case of the crime, a source posted. At first, investigators believe that Tran’s death was staged.
Vu was found guilty of murder after a six-day trial and a 25-minute deliberation among jurors. Assistant District Attorney Stephany Abner said they are relieved that the victim and her family have finally received justice after a long wait.
