Takeoff, a popular US rapper from the group Migos, was shot and killed in Houston, Texas, at the age of 28. The musician was slain on Tuesday while rolling dice with his uncle & bandmate Quavo at a bowling alley. The revelation was confirmed to the Associated Press by a spokesperson for the musician, whose real name is Kirshnik Khari Ball.
One of the most well-known groups of their time, Migos invented the “Migos flow,” a choppy, staccato triplet rapping technique. The band, which broke up earlier this year, had several global successes, including, Walk It Talk It, Bad and Boujee, and Versace.
How Did Migos rapper Die
The shooting happened on a balcony outside of the 810 Billiards & Bowling Alley at around 02:30 local time. The number of guests at the private party, according to the police, was between 40 and 50. Although they heard the bullets, the nearby security officers were unable to identify the shooter. Officers reported finding a sizable throng and a guy in his 20s suffering from head or neck injuries when they arrived. At the scene, he was identified as deceased.
Several media publications, including TMZ, Variety, and the Hollywood Reporter, identified Takeoff as the victim. Police reportedly told the BBC that until the families of the victims were notified, they would not formally confirm an identification. Quavo’s injuries in the incident have not been verified, according to reports. According to police, two other casualties were taken in private vehicles to the hospital.
The Trio Of Migos
Takeoff, Offset, and Quavo, the members of the group known as Migos, were born and raised together in Lawrenceville, Georgia, as well as came to symbolize the state’s capital, Atlanta, which is regarded as the birthplace of trap music. Takeoff claimed that the band’s use of music to escape their kinship-based poverty. The group, who was once known as Polo Club, made its debut in 2010 as Migos and earned their breakthrough hit with Versace in 2013, which Drake remixed.
The group’s rise was briefly put on hold in 2015 when Offset was jailed as a result of a police raid on their tour bus following a performance at Georgia State University. The smash song Look at My Dab, which was featured on the trio’s album Back to the Bando later that year, boosted the dabbing dance craze, which was eventually adopted by athletes and even politicians. They gained popularity in 2016 thanks to the viral hit Bad and Boujee, whose quotable lyrics gave rise to several memes.
It was a slow-burning hit that peaked at number one in the US charts 2 months after it was launched, in part due to the ardent support of actor-rapper Donald Glover, better known by his stage name Childish Gambino. Fans were a little upset that Takeoff didn’t appear on the song; however, he dismissed the issue, saying he was just unable to attend the recording session. The band’s 2nd album, Culture, landed at number 1 in the US thanks to its success.
The trio and Calvin Harris worked together to create Slide, their lone UK top 10 songs, in the same year. Kanye West and Pharrell Williams contributed to the production of their second album, Culture II, which also included appearances from Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, 21 Savage, and Drake. It produced the platinum-certified songs Walk It Talk It, MotorSport, Stir Fry, and Narcos, and was another US number one.
Takeoff’s estimated net worth as of 2022 is $569k. He used his career to build a multimillion-dollar business. Born on June 18, 1994, Takeoff has a respectable income from his career. Takeoff was the band’s youngest member and frequently its quietest in public. Before the rapper’s reunion with Migos to create Culture III in 2021, the artist recorded an album in 2018 titled The Last Rocket. The band, however, disbanded earlier this year as a result of an argument with Offset. Continued as a duet, Takeoff and Quavo last month released the album Only Built For Infinity Links, which peaked at number seven on the US charts.
