A drag racing event in Texas ended in grief after two children died. A car plowed into the crowd causing the death of the two kids.
According to ABC News, the accident occurred at Airport Race Wars 2 held at the Kerrville-Kerr County Airport. One of the drag racers reportedly lost control of the vehicle and plowed into the event’s spectators. Aside from the two children killed, several more people got seriously injured.
Details Of The Event Released
The horrific incident took place at around 3:20 P.M. on Saturday. One of the vehicles that took part in the Airport Race Wars 2 event left the runway, and later, it hit multiple parked vehicles and people watching the event. The two children who died are six and eight years old, and the Kerrville Police Department has not identified them.
Four People Airlifted To Nearby Medical Facilities
Four people had to be airlifted to nearby medical facilities in Austin and San Antonio. One of them is a 26-year-old male and was taken to Austin’s Dell Seaton Medical Center. Police did not release details on the person’s condition.
Another is a 27-year-old female who was taken to San Antonio Medical Center, and she is said to be in critical but non-life-threatening condition. The last spectator injured is a 46-year-old woman taken to San Antonio Medical Center and is in critical condition.
The fourth person airlifted is the driver of the vehicle that plowed into the crowd. He is 34 years old and is in stable condition at the San Antonio Medical Center.
Aside from the four people seriously injured, two more children were taken to Peterson Regional Medical Center for precautionary measures. It is unclear what happened to a three-month-old baby and a four-year-old child, and it was also not stated what their conditions are now.
Two people were likewise treated at the scene.
Police Conducting Investigation Now
The Kerrville Police are already investigating the incident. The department noted they have no additional information to release as the investigation is in its early stages.
