Texas law enforcement including the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force has finally recovered a fugitive and sex offender who was on Texas Most Wanted Fugitive list.
Law enforcement captures two wanted fugitives
Dallas Police arrested Alberto Mendoza on Oct. 13 in Dallas. He was later placed on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list on Sept. 7, 2021. Mendoza has been wanted to by police since 2020 for organized crime activities and a parole violation. He was eventually convicted on multiple counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Mendoza was sentenced to eight years in prison and then was released on parole in November 2018.
Cory Lee Reed was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service with the assistance of the Dalhart Police Department. Reed failed to register as a sex offender in 2020. Ten years prior, he was convicted of multiple counts of sexual assault of a child following an incident with a 14-year-old girl. He earned 10 years probation. In 2011, he received five years probation for not registering as a sex offender. His probation was revoked in 2012 and received eight years in prison.
Texas law enforcement successful with capturing fugitives
Texas Crime Stoppers offers rewards to anyone that provides information that leads to the capture of any of the Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Fugitives or Sex Offenders. So far in 2021, there have been 22 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders arrested. This includes eight gang members and 10 sex offenders. So far $49,000 in reward money has been paid for tips that led to arrests. If someone has information, they can contact the Crime Stoppers hotline, submit a tip through the Department of Public Safety website, and through Facebook.
