A Jefferson County grand jury indicted a man accused of brandishing a machete during an argument. The incident occurred at the parking lot of the Port Arthur McDonald’s restaurant located at 8435 Memorial Boulevard.
The grand jury’s indictment of the man came on account of aggravated assault. According to 12News, the incident on August 2 came to light after the fast-food restaurant requested help from Port Arthur Police around 4:45 p.m. They had told the police that a man with a knife was creating problems at the parking lot.
Police rushed to the scene, but the man at the center of the argument with a machete was missing. The man was later identified as 53-year-old Troy Landry.
Landry threatened the other man in the argument with the knife. The victim informed the police that Landry approached him after moving some property from behind his vehicle in the McDonald’s parking lot, the report quoted from the affidavit.
Landry Swings Machete at Victim
It is believed that Troy Landry was distraught when the victim moved the property, and in anger, he began hurling abuses at him. Unable to control his anger, he swung a machete at the victim, screaming that he would cut him.
The Port Arthur Police launched a manhunt and were able to locate Troy Landry from the 7700 block of 9th Street. He was found armed with the machete even when the police took him in custody.
Aggravated Assault Using Deadly Weapon
Landry has been sent to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility post the grand jury’s observations that he was involved in an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon – a second-degree felony. It remains to be seen what pushed the 53-year-old Landry to get so violent as to swing a sharp weapon at another man.
