A gunman opened fire inside a dental clinic in El Cajon, California, on Thursday afternoon, killing one person and injuring two more.
El Cajon Shooting Issue Explained:
The suspect, Mohammed Abdulkareem, 29, was arrested late Thursday local time by San Diego police, according to El Cajon Police Capt. Rob Ransweiler. At 4:15 p.m. local time, police responded to a 911 call from the office on North Magnolia Avenue and provided “lifesaving support” to the three victims. The deceased person is male. The coroner’s office will publicly identify him, according to police.
At a news briefing Thursday evening, Ransweiler stated that cops discovered the guy who died inside the office during the shooting and transported him outside, where lifesaving procedures could be performed safely. Ransweiler said the two injured victims, a man in his 40s and a woman in her 20s, were transferred to surrounding hospitals and are stable. The wounded woman’s father informed Telemundo San Diego that she was 27 years old and was shot in the legs. Police did not specify whether they believe the shooting was targeted or whether the suspect, who was equipped with a handgun, knew the victims. The incident occurred in the dental office, and everyone involved was inside, according to Ransweiler, who also stated that other persons were present at the time. No more injuries were reported inside the structure.

According to police, a city-wide video system recognized the suspect’s white U-Haul pickup car. They stated they then established that the suspect had hired the truck. The truck was eventually discovered, and Abdulkareem was apprehended near the scene, according to Ransweiler. The FBI San Diego and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives collaborate with the investigation. El Cajon is a city located around 15 miles northeast of San Diego.
