Hinton Battle was a legendary American actor, singer, dancer, as well as a dance instructor. Hinton Battle won three times Tony Award, all in the category of Featured Actor in a Musical.

Recently, the news of the death of ‘Dreamgirls’ star Hinton Battle is coming out, after which his fans have started searching on the internet. Hinton Battle died on January 30, 2024, at the age of 67, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, California, United States.

Hinton Battle’s cause of death was a long illness. Hinton Battle’s death was confirmed by his representative. But Hinton’s representative declined to reveal the cause of death.

Hinton Battle was famous for his role in the “The Wiz” and “Dreamgirls”.

Hinton Battle played Wayne, a car salesman who becomes a producer for Rainbow Records, in “Dreamgirls”. For this, Hinton received SAG and Critics’ Choice nominations.

Hinton Battle was born on 29 November 1956 in Neubrücke, Rhineland-Palatinate, West Germany. He did his studies at The School of American Ballet.

Hinton Battle appeared alongside Beyoncé, Eddie Murphy, Jennifer Hudson and Jamie Foxx in the 2006 hit film.

Hinton Battle made his debut at the age of 18 after playing the lead role and moved ahead in his life.

Hinton Battle received all three bells in the Featured Actor in a Musical category in 1981 for his work in “Sophisticated Ladies”.

Hinton Battle’s “Dreamgirls” co-star Jennifer Hudson paid tribute to Hinton after hearing the news of her death.

“We lost two irreplaceable Broadway icons this week,” the EGOT winner wrote on X. “Chita Rivera and Hinton Battle ! I’ll always be grateful for their unique artistry and impact and the way our lives intersected! Rest well, legends!”

Stephanie Mills, who played Dorothy alongside Battle in “The Wiz,” wrote on Instagram, “My Dear Scarecrow, Mr Hinton Battle, words cannot express how I feel.”

she added- “You’ve joined the heavenly cast. I will miss you forever. I loved you then, now, and forever. Rest babe, job well done. Until we meet again”.
