In a terrible occurrence on Saturday afternoon, a 48-year-old Cantonment man named John Docherty died, and two others were injured in a horrific wreck in Escambia County. The Tragic Collision:
On Saturday afternoon, at about 12:28 p.m., a fatal collision happened at the intersection of Beverly Parkway and Pipeline Road. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, three pickup vehicles collided, killing a 42-year-old Cantonment man named John Docherty. The incident began when a Nissan driving east on Beverly Parkway crossed the center turn lane, encroaching on the path of a westbound Ford pickup truck. To avoid a straight collision, the Ford swerved, causing sideswipe damage. However, the Nissan proceeded on its path, crossing into oncoming lanes before crashing with a Dodge Ram pickup truck. The impact was severe, and the Nissan and the Ram finally rested on the road.

Despite emergency response attempts, John Docherty, the Nissan’s driver, died from his injuries in the incident and was pronounced dead on the spot. In addition to the unfortunate death of 42-year-old John Docherty, the crash at Beverly Parkway and Pipeline Road injured others to varied degrees. The 68-year-old occupant of the Ram pickup vehicle, described as a Milton male, was taken to the hospital with severe injuries.
