The driver of the same sedan and the passengers of the red car, a man and a woman, were both injured and were soon evacuated to a regional trauma centre. The woman was reportedly unable to feel her legs after the incident. Following Halaholo’s death, his family used social media to express their deep sorrow. Leilua Halaholo, his sister, wrote in an anguished Facebook post, “It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Luamata Finau Halaholo, at the young age of 20 years old.” She recorded her family’s agony and their source of relief, noting that the prospect of Luamata rejoining with their mother, who had died two years before, provided them some comfort.

Tributes to Luamata Halaholo:

Esmeralda Hernandez Vasquez, a family friend, also expressed her condolences online, praising Halaholo’s amazing character and offering prayers and love in this time of sadness. Uma Manutai, Halaholo’s aunt, contacted local community people via VVNG, expressing the family’s search for him following the accident. “Our family travelled to the region from West Covina, but no one was able to locate him, and we have no idea where his body is. They tried a hospital. She claimed, “They told my family they were transporting to a mortuary, but there is still no information.” “It was sad to learn of his death, as all we wanted to do was see our grandson, particularly his father. They lost their mother (my niece) two years ago, and now my grandnephew has died.”
