Sanath Nishantha was a Sri Lankan politician. He was worked as a member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka and a Minister of State.
He became a Member of Parliament representing Puttalam district in both 2015 and 2020, a position he continued until his demise in 2024.
He belonged to the United People’s Freedom Alliance and later joined the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna. He held the post of Minister of State for Water Supply from September 8, 2022 till his death. Additionally, during Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s presidency, he served as the Minister of State for Fisheries.

Recently the news of the death of Sri Lankan Minister of State Sanath Nishantha is coming to light. Sanath Nishantha and his security officer died on 25 January 2024 in a hospital in Ragama, Sri Lanka, at the age of 48.

Sanath Nishantha and his security officer were in the SUV. Which collided with a container truck while going from Katunayake to Colombo. Sanath Nishantha’s car collided with a barrier on the side of the road before colliding with the back of a moving truck around 2am.
Sanath Nishantha and his PSO sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Colombo North Teaching Hospital in Ragama, where they died. But Sanath Nishantha’s car driver is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.
