Jacob Carter, co-founder of Howdy Bagel in Tacoma, Washington, was killed while on vacation in New Orleans with his husband, Daniel Blagovich, on January 5, according to a GoFundMe campaign set up on Sunday. The page is set up to gather funds to sustain the bagel shop by funding rent and labor.
What does the Investigation Say?
According to the page, “Jake was a bright spot in the lives of everyone he loved.” This loss is tremendous to our community.” It adds that Howdy Bagel would be temporarily shuttered following the event. The GoFundMe website adds: “We ask that you consider donating to assist in covering part of the shop’s bills and employee compensation during this challenging season. The link is in the bio. The shop will be closed momentarily while we all deal with our sadness.
We’re also trying to reach out to Howdy Bagels. Carter and Blagovich founded Howdy Bagel in 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. They both faced layoffs. “Jake Carter and his partner, Daniel Blagovich, were attracted together by food and cooking and wanted to give back to the community. They spent long nights and early mornings perfecting their recipes for excellent handmade bagels and freshly whipped SCHMEARS. “We are excited to be baking for you, Tacoma,” the website says.
