According to police, Sergeant Nix observed a crime taking place at the Sheetz petrol station located at 3202 Sandy Ridge Road approximately 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30 and contacted the suspects. As a result, he was gunned down. An off-duty law enforcement officer and a paramedic were also present and promptly assisted the criminals as they fled the scene. Sergeant Nix was taken to the hospital, where he died from his wounds.
