McGill formerly worked as director of special events at Valley Forge Military Academy and as manager of the Lansdale Farmers Market before establishing Lokal Artisan Foods. Her daughter Madison’s successful lemonade stand, which she showed when she was eight years old, provided the initial cash for her business.
In 2021, McGill made history as the first Black woman in Pennsylvania to have a signature beer, French Toast Ale, created in cooperation with Yards Brewing Company. Expanding her product line, the company produced a spice product and coffee inspired by her well-known French Toast Bites. McGill made history again in the autumn of the previous year when she became the first Black woman to manage the Farmers Market Coalition.
