Fatal Outcome in Potential Robbery: Three Individuals Shot on Professional Drive

The Wichita Falls Police Department is currently investigating the first homicide of the year, with early indications suggesting that the deceased individual was, in fact, a suspect engaged in an attempted robbery when the shooting occurred. The incident unfolded at the Country Park apartments on Professional Drive, where 32-year-old Quincy Moore succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The law enforcement response was prompted by a gunshot call received just after 9:30 p.m. the previous night. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered three individuals with gunshot wounds. Among them, a 33-year-old man appears to have been the target of an alleged robbery, while the remaining two are believed to be the assailants.

According to Wichita Falls Police Department Public Information Officer, Sgt. Charlie Eipper, the victim was armed and managed to produce a firearm in response to the robbery attempt. He successfully shot both suspects, resulting in the death of one at the hospital, while the other remains in critical condition under police guard.

A resident in the vicinity recounted hearing commotion and raised voices emanating from the apartment while she was smoking a cigarette. She distinctly heard the victim pleading, “leave me alone, get out of my house,” moments before gunshots rang out. Promptly reacting, she dialed 911 to report the unfolding incident.

Sgt. Eipper emphasized the importance of neighbors promptly reporting such incidents, acknowledging their role in facilitating a swift law enforcement and medical response. He advised individuals to strive to remove themselves from potentially dangerous situations but affirmed everyone’s right to self-defense.

As of now, no charges have been filed against the 33-year-old victim. Sgt. Eipper explained that the circumstances, including whether the resident felt compelled to use deadly force to protect himself during a home invasion, would be considered in determining any potential charges. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities piece together the events leading to this fatal confrontation.
