New Orleans Police District was saddened by the news on Monday as city officials confirmed the death of a New Orleans police officer who was shot in the head last 2020, while he was patrolling in the city’s French Quarter.
New Orleans Police Officer Dies
Fox News reported, that a New Orleans police officer Trevor Abney, 31, was shot while he was comfortably sitting in his patrol car together with a second officer who also suffered a minor injury during the shooting. WWL-TV also reported, that despite a 40-caliber bullet lodged behind Abney’s left eye socket, he miraculously survived the shooting.
Reports said that the suspect fired at the back of a pedicab. The suspect was then arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, court record says he pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
No further release has been made regarding the death of the New Orleans police officer. New Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office did not release any details about the case.
