Cedric Douglas Johnson, 40, was arrested Sunday after a middle school student in Wylie told a school counselor about the alleged sexual abuse, according to the Wylie Police Department.
A man accused of sexually assaulting a “middle-school-aged” child multiple times was arrested over the weekend after the victim reported the abuse to a school counselor, Wylie police announced Monday.
Cedric Douglas Johnson, 40, was at the Collin County Jail as of Monday evening, according to online records. He is facing multiple charges, including continuous sexual assault of a child under the age of 14. His bail is $150,000 and it is unclear if Johnson has an attorney.
Wylie is about 28 miles northeast of Dallas.
Around 11 a.m. Thursday, a counselor from Wylie ISD reported to a school resource officer that a student had made an “outcry of sexual abuse,” police said. Investigators believe Johnson had continuous sexual contact with the child, the Wylie Police Department said in a news release.
Sgt. Donald English, a spokesman for Wyle police, said the victim was a “middle school-aged” child. English said Johnson was an acquaintance of a member of the child’s household. The child who reported the abuse told authorities “there were other victims,” English said.
Officers found Johnson inside of a parking lot and they also found an additional child who was thought to be in danger, police said.
Johnson was “detained” and later placed under arrest on the sexual assault charges, police said.
The investigation is ongoing, and there could be more victims, police said.
