HOUSTON — A man was shot and killed Tuesday by Hitchcock Police Department officers attempting to serve him a warrant, the agency said.
This happened near the intersection of Mosley Road and Bryant Street, just west of the Gulf Freeway in southeast Houston. The department said they had been conducting a criminal investigation against George Alejandro, 54, since Feb. 16, on allegations of sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl.
Investigators said Alejandro met the girl on social media and started an online relationship with her. During an interview with him, he admitted to detectives that he picked the girl up near her school in Hitchcock and took her to a hotel where he had sex with her throughout the day. Monday, once the investigation was completed, police got a warrant for Alejandro’s arrest who was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a Child, a first-degree felony.
On Tuesday, police got word Alejandro was in the southeast Houston area so they drove there to serve the warrant. Officers tried to pull him over but when he spotted police, he took off in an “18-wheeler-type vehicle.” Police followed him for a short distance before Alejandro turned into a business parking lot on Mosley Road.
Police said Alejandro got out of his truck with a gun in his hand, which he “raised at officers,” police said. Two Hitchcock police officers fired and shot Alejandro an unknown number of times.
Captain Jeffery Evans said the man was given medical aid by the officers until the Houston Fire Department showed up, took over and took him to a Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center where he died.
No officers were injured in the shooting. The Houston Police Department and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office ave taken over the investigation
