A Child Shot Brutally in Spring, Texas After A Woman Fired A Warning Shot

SPRING, Texas — A woman was arrested Thursday after a 6-year-old was shot in Spring, according to Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office officials. Brittney Sanders has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to Pct. 4. She is currently in the Harris County Jail. Her bond has not been set.

The shooting happened outside a home in the 6100 block of Cypresswood Green Drive near Cypresswood Drive. Authorities said the shooting started as a fight at a school between a group of elementary and middle school students.

The students made their way to the home on Cypresswood Green Drive and that’s when the woman walked out of the house and fired a warning shot, investigators said. They believe one of her children was involved in the fight.

She then fired at least two more shots at a car that was driving away, hitting the 6-year-old that was inside, authorities said. The child was shot in the arm and leg. He was taken to a nearby hospital in unknown condition by his family. The gun was recovered by deputies. It’s not known which schools the group of students attended and what the fight was over.
