Grandson Hammers Grandparents to Death; Faces Multiple Charges

Jeremy Belt, 26, murdered his elderly grandparents in their Clearfield home. He allegedly brutally beat his grandparents with a hammer and shot them to death; the suspect’s mother discovered the bodies in the garage.

Devastating Act of Murder

Thomas Walker and Janice Walker, both in their 80s, have been identified as the victims and suffered from traumatic injuries. Jeremy smacked his grandparents with a hammer, cut the garage wires, and shot them.

The Clearfield Police Department received a call from the 60-year-old mother on Nov. 23 at 3:10 p.m., stating that she discovered her parents dead in their garage and named her son Jeremy as the suspect. Jeremy’s mother was still in the garage with her parents’ bodies when the police arrived, a source posted.

The police surrounded the house, and Jeremy Belt spoke with an officer before leaving and was taken into custody without incident.

Jeremy is charged with two counts of murder, possessing a firearm by a restricted person, misdemeanor assault, possessing a controlled substance, possessing drug paraphernalia, and criminal mischief.

Response to Accusations

In an interview, Jeremy Belt admitted to killing his grandparents because he was concerned about his grandparents and family members hurting him. He confronted his grandparents about his allegations, and the couple went to the garage to leave, but Jeremy cut the garage door wires, preventing them from exiting.

He followed them into the garage and kicked them in the chest, causing them to fall to the ground. He grabbed the hammer and demanded an answer to his accusations, hitting the couple in the back of the heads with it.

He went to his room to get a rifle and shot one of his grandparents, then went back to get another to kill the other.
