Friday night at Phoenix Raceway, Smith defeated Chandler Smith and the current Truck Series winner Ben Rhodes in a two-lap extra sprint to win and finally claim the series championship. Smith began competing in BMX racing before switching to go-kart driving in 2004 and winning titles for five straight years before progressing to legendary car racing. He competed in super late model racing in 2015, winning the World Series of Asphalt, the Pro All Stars Series, and the CARS Tour. He also finished second in the Snowball Derby. Smith formerly worked as a full-time driver for GMS Racing in the Truck Series, where he finished second in the overall standings in 2020 and 2021.
